Bulimba Business Development & Bookkeeping Services is the realization of Michelle MacFarlane’s vision

- built on a diverse career spanning retail, construction, and business improvement. Michelle began her journey in a casual high school role at one of Australia’s top big-box retailers, where she advanced from register operator to District Manager over a 20‐year period. In that leadership role, she managed 16 stores across Queensland and Northern NSW, oversaw teams of up to 500 employees, and was responsible for an annual turnover of $160 million.

After choosing to leave retail to focus on family and to help expand the family roofing business,

Michelle gained invaluable construction industry experience as General Manager over seven years, growing the business to become Queensland’s largest of its kind at the time. Driven by a passion to support small businesses, she then set out to create her own venture—Bulimba Business Development & Bookkeeping Services—with the aim of maximizing business potential while reducing workload and stress for owners.

Michelle is a results-driven business improvement professional renowned for her expertise in process analysis, control development, and efficiency enhancement. Her extensive experience, coupled with a vast network of industry contacts, enables her to offer clients practical, real-world advice and guidance. Michelle’s proven ability to build trusted relationships—from boardrooms to frontline teams and external stakeholders—underscores her commitment to delivering tailored, high-impact solutions for every business she serves.
