Bulimba Business Development and Bookkeeping Services is the brainchild of owner operator Michelle MacFarlane.

Michelle turned a casual high school job with one of Australia’s most successful big box retailers into a career spanning 20 years, going from a register operator to District Manager in this time. As District Manager Michelle was responsible for 16 stores in both Queensland and Northern NSW with an annual turnover of $160 million and managing up to 500 team members at any one time.

Michelle choose to leave retail to concentrate on starting a family and help to grow the family roofing business. Michelle learnt valuable construction industry experience as General Manager for this business over a 7 year period and was able to grow it to the largest of its kind in Qld at that time. After a change in direction Michelle was able to fulfill her own dream of creating her own business that could help and support other small businesses– and that is how Bulimba Business Development and Bookkeeping came into being, with the primary goal of working with business owners to maximise their business potential and minimise their work hours and stress. Helping real people and families.

Michelle is a passionate, energetic and motivated business person who enjoys being challenged and assisting businesses grow to their full potential.

She is a results-driven Business Improvement professional with 30+ years of diverse experience in delivering change including analysing processes and controls, and developing processes to improve efficiencies. With the ability to call on all her experiences knowledge gained and contacts over the years she offers a wealth of information and strong solid real life advice and guidance.

Michelle also has proven experience in building trusted working relationships with Boards, Senior Leaders through to frontline staff and external stakeholders.

Michelle is a self-confessed “numbers nerd” who derives pleasure from analysing financial records and formulating strategies to improve business efficiencies. Passionate, energetic and motivated, Michelle loves being challenged and takes great pleasure in helping businesses grow to their full potential while helping their owners to find the work-life balance they yearn for.
